Marketing Intern - Job Description

 

We are currently seeking a Marketing Intern to join our growing team this Spring/Summer! If you’re looking for a dynamic hands-on experience in a role where you can showcase your social media marketing skills, this could be the position for you.

About Us

Homestand Sports is a media company producing live events and digital media on intelligent and interactive conversations on sports. Our mission is to build a North American platform for engaging devoted fans in meaningful and intimate conversations on sports. Founded by Kevin Kennedy in 2014, Homestand Sports first launched with Pitch Talks on baseball with a small crowd of 80. From there, we have grown to produce shows all across North America (New York City, Philadelphia, Florida, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary to name a few), and have expanded to talks on hockey (Puck Talks), and basketball (Hoop Talks) with plans for Huddle Talks, and Footy Talks.

Ultimately we are producing live shows, video, and podcasts, that push the standard of what we'd expect to hear on TV and radio, and deliver intimate, intelligent, and interactive stories that get right at the heart of why we love the sports we do.

Roles/Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Manage content creation for our social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

  • Monitor social channels for trends and capitalize on them through our social media output

  • Draft and edit copy for social channels

  • Lead promotional initiatives and coordinate with other team members

  • Liaise with vendors, partners, sponsors, etc. regarding events and provide appropriate marketing materials

  • Assist with capturing and analyzing social media metrics

  • Analyze success of promotional endeavours and events

  • Assist with developing our general marketing strategy by sharing new ideas, suggesting useful tools, etc.

  • Perform other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications/Skills:
Required

  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Superior organizational skills

  • Dedication to creating quality content

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Previous experience with/willingness to learn: Hootsuite, Google Drive, Slack, Squarespace.

  • Willingness to work evenings when there is a scheduled event taking place

Preferred

  • Currently enrolled in/recent graduate of a post-secondary marketing program

  • Previous experience in a marketing position would be considered an asset

More about this position:

  • 4 month contract starting May 1, 2017

  • $11.40 per hour

  • Full time hours
